On 8 of August 2017, Tuesday in the presence of Hon'ble Mayor, Sri Mrigen Sarania, Commissioner, Smt Monalisa Goswami, Additional Commissioner, Sri Dwijen Singh, Deputy Commissioner of East Zone office, Sri Gautam Das and other office staff along with the general citizens launched the operation of MPoS machines in collaboration with the HDFC bank for collection of property tax.

It is an eGovernance initiative taken up by GMC towards cashless transactions. Presently, it has been started at East Zone on pilot basis. Soon it will be rolled out in other five zones of GMC areas.
 
Now, the citizen can pay their property tax by swiping their credit/debit card in MPoS device. On successful transaction, sms and e-receipt is provided to citizen. Citizen can also pay in cash. Sucessful transaction record are updated in Online Property Tax Portal of GMC.
