Health Inspection

  • Guwahati Municipal Corporation is also responsible for ensuring cleanliness, proper sanitation and hygiene of the public and commercial establishments such as Doctor’s Clinics, Hotels, Restaurants and other related commercial establishments. In this regard, regular health inspections are carried out covering the entire 31 wards by the Concerned Health Inspectors of Health Branch, Guwahati Municipal Corporation,Lakhtokia, Guwahati.

    Checklist:

    • Drainage System if satisfactory
    • Drinking water if filtered and container,if satisfactory
    • Sanitation and hygiene if satisfactory
    • Kitchen.....Seperate
         Size-sufficient
         Washing space
         Running water provision
         Drinking water filtered
    • No of beds where applicable
    • Space per person where applicable if satisfactory
    • Any encroachment made on footpath/road/drain
    • Conditions of utensils if satisfactory
    • Furniture if satisfactory
    • Ventilation if satisfactory
    • General Health of workers if satisfactory
    • Licence of Industries Deptt. If,any
    • NOC/Licence from any other authority
    • Toilet facilities if adequate & hygiene satisfactory

    15. Bar licence from Excise Department, Kamrup(M) ,Guwahati
    16. Clinical establishment certificate
    17. Clearance from Pollution Control Board
    18. Occupancy Certificate with ‘As built Plan’

    On the basis of the above points, inspection reports are prepared by the Health Inspectors. The Health Inspector issues notices as per norms to the defaulters those operating without trade license and on hygienic ground.The notices are of four kinds;

    1. 7 Days
    2. 3 Days
    3. 24 Hours

    If after issuing these three notices also, the establishment is not taking up corrective measures to improve the hygienic condition, then “390 section” notices is issued by the Commissioner, GMC to seal the business establishment.
