Guwahati Municipal Corporation has organised Cleanliness Drive at Kamakhya Temple, Uzanbazar and Kachari Market on "World Environment Day". The theme of the drive was "Beat the Plastic". Accordingly, two major markets in the city namely Uzanbazar and Kachari Market has been declared as "No Plastic Zone". A massive awareness drive has been arranged with the help of Self Help Group under National Urban Livelihood Mission,GMC and other stakeholders. A cycle rally was also conducted by the WWF and Plantation Drive was also organised all around the city.
